MB Training (Final)-14

Tercet: A stanza of poetry, composed of three lines or verses.

We are considering each month as a verse in our tercet. Every month, we will work on the foundations of our training: individual and group awareness, physical improvisation; and finding attention, precision and momentum in the body. On top of this, each month’s verse will have a specific focus. Within each month, we ask that participants commit to all three sessions (Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning), but it is not necessary that you attend all three months.

The three verses of our tercet are as follows:

February 23-24: Score. We will work throughout three sessions to create and refine individual sequences of physical actions, or scores. We will explore imaginative, emotional, and remembered landscapes; and we will work on quality, nuance and range in our physicality.

March 22-23: Text. We will use a shared text to develop confidence and versatility in our voice and delivery. We will work to break our vocal and linguistic cliches and access imagination and precision in our delivery of text. We will weave our text work onto a physical foundation, and those who have attended Score will have an opportunity to build cumulatively.

April 19-20: Ensemble. In our final verse, we will engage especially deeply in practicesthat nurture ensemble awareness, trust and co-creativity. We will use physical and vocal improvisations and design elements to create material together. Those who have attended score and/or text will be invited to weave their work from those verses into this final element.

Price Structure and RSVP:

For each three-session verse, we ask participants to make a sliding scale commitment of between $45 to $75. If you are unsure of where you fall on the sliding scale, or this pricing is inaccessible to you, please contact Hannah at hannahpc@gmail.com.

We are very excited to be working closely with a dedicated group of participants, and we will cap participation in each session. In order to secure your spot, please RSVP at your earliest convenience to hannahpc@gmail.com.
