Mondo Bizarro’s Place Based Training Immersion is an intensive site of exploration for people who are curious about
- physical and vocal training,
- the centrality of place in the creation, presentation and touring of original performance work, and
- what a deep investment in social change could look like in the lands and communities they call home.
This careful braiding of movement laboratory, song circles, site visits, community meals, activist dialogues and performance creation offers participants a deep dive into the wonders and travails of New Orleans and the creative methodologies Mondo Bizarro has used to create work and engage community for the last seveenteen years.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE?
- Daily sessions centered on on the foundations of our training: individual and group awareness; physical improvisation; and finding attention, precision and momentum in the body.
- Interactive tour of Southeast Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands
- Group singing
- Trainings with local performance makers
- Conversations with activists and cultural organizers
- Visioning with participants about practical ways to apply what we learn
- Group meals
DATES, TIMES & LOGISTICS

WHO IS THIS FOR?
The Training Immersion is for movement artists, theater artists, social change artists, designers, dance makers, and others with an interest in the relationship between place, embodied practices and social change.
WHO IS FACILITATING?
Mondo Bizarro’s Place Based Training Immersion is led by company members Bruce France, Dan Pruksarnukul, Joanna Russo, Nick Slie. Guest facilitators will lead certain sessions, and they will be announced months before each immersion.
